Quick answer: Nails ranked first in Pinterest Trends' US top yearly searches for October 25, 2025–October 24, 2026, followed by hairstyles, wallpaper and outfit ideas. Fall nails ranked first in the separate top monthly list for September 25–October 24, 2026. Pinterest shows these lists in order but publishes no exact search counts, so treat the ranking as relative size, not a number of searches.

Below are both of Pinterest's US top-20 lists, what they reveal when you read them side by side, and how to turn one of these big searches into a keyword you can actually rank a Pin for.

Pinterest's Top Searches in the US

Pinterest Trends has two lists that come closest to a "most searched" ranking. Top yearly trends shows keywords with high search volume over the last 365 days. Top monthly trends does the same for the last 30 days. We checked both for the United States on October 27, 2026, using Pinterest's default end date of October 24, 2026.

The positions below reproduce the order Pinterest showed. Pinterest displays relative volume bars, not counts, and its percentage changes are its own displayed figures.

Past 12 months (Oct 25, 2025 – Oct 24, 2026)

  1. #1 nails (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #1; past-month rank: #4; monthly change: -20%; yearly change: 0%. Too broad for one Pin. Use it as a topic and target a narrower nail search. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  2. #2 hairstyles (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #2; past-month rank: #7; monthly change: -20%; yearly change: +40%. This search appears in both the past-12-month and past-month top 20. That makes it worth investigating, but does not prove steady demand throughout the year. Check the full trend curve, then target a narrower search your content can fully answer. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  3. #3 wallpaper (Art & design). Past-12-month rank: #3; past-month rank: #6; monthly change: -9%; yearly change: +80%. Huge and very broad. A high-volume keyword is useful only when your Pin and its destination match the searcher's intent. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  4. #4 outfit ideas (Fashion). Past-12-month rank: #4; past-month rank: #9; monthly change: -20%; yearly change: -8%. This search appears in both the past-12-month and past-month top 20. That makes it worth investigating, but does not prove steady demand throughout the year. Check the full trend curve, then target a narrower search your content can fully answer. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  5. #5 nail ideas (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #5; past-month rank: #12; monthly change: -20%; yearly change: +90%. This search appears in both the past-12-month and past-month top 20. That makes it worth investigating, but does not prove steady demand throughout the year. Check the full trend curve, then target a narrower search your content can fully answer. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  6. #6 fall nails (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #6; past-month rank: #1; monthly change: +20%; yearly change: +30%. It leads the past-month list, but that alone doesn't establish when interest peaks. Check when the curve starts rising and plan next year's content ahead of it. The same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  7. #7 dinner ideas (Food). Past-12-month rank: #7; past-month rank: #13; monthly change: -10%; yearly change: -2%. A broad search appearing in both lists. Narrow it to a useful angle, then send the Pin to a page that actually answers that search. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  8. #8 nail inspo (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #8; past-month rank: #14; monthly change: -10%; yearly change: +60%. This search appears in both the past-12-month and past-month top 20. That makes it worth investigating, but does not prove steady demand throughout the year. Check the full trend curve, then target a narrower search your content can fully answer. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  9. #9 drawing ideas (Art & design). Past-12-month rank: #9; past-month rank: #15; monthly change: -8%; yearly change: +20%. This search appears in both the past-12-month and past-month top 20. That makes it worth investigating, but does not prove steady demand throughout the year. Check the full trend curve, then target a narrower search your content can fully answer. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  10. #10 christmas nails (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #10; past-month rank: not in the top 20. It ranks 10th in the past-12-month list but is absent from the past-month top 20. That is consistent with a seasonal pattern, but check the full trend curve before planning publication. The same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  11. #11 spring nails (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #11; past-month rank: not in the top 20. The same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  12. #12 reaction pictures (Platforms & memes). Past-12-month rank: #12; past-month rank: not in the top 20. Large but hard to serve: this search points to reaction and meme images rather than a problem a blog post, product or guide can solve. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  13. #13 valentines nails (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #13; past-month rank: not in the top 20. The same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  14. #14 aesthetic (Art & design). Past-12-month rank: #14; past-month rank: #19; monthly change: -5%; yearly change: +50%. Huge and very broad. A high-volume keyword is useful only when your Pin and its destination match the searcher's intent. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  15. #15 french tip nails (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #15; past-month rank: not in the top 20. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  16. #16 fall outfits (Fashion). Past-12-month rank: #16; past-month rank: #3; monthly change: +50%; yearly change: +3%. The same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  17. #17 pose reference (Art & design). Past-12-month rank: #17; past-month rank: #18; monthly change: -4%; yearly change: +50%. This search appears in both the past-12-month and past-month top 20. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  18. #18 youtube (Platforms & memes). Past-12-month rank: #18; past-month rank: not in the top 20. If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  19. #19 winter outfits (Fashion). Past-12-month rank: #19; past-month rank: not in the top 20. The same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  20. #20 flowers (Flowers). Past-12-month rank: #20; past-month rank: not in the top 20. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.

Past month (Sep 25 – Oct 24, 2026)

  1. #1 fall nails (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #6; past-month rank: #1; monthly change: +20%; yearly change: +30%.
  2. #2 halloween nails (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: not in the top 20; past-month rank: #2; monthly change: +200%; yearly change: +10%. The same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  3. #3 fall outfits (Fashion). Past-12-month rank: #16; past-month rank: #3; monthly change: +50%; yearly change: +3%.
  4. #4 nails (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #1; past-month rank: #4; monthly change: -20%; yearly change: 0%.
  5. #5 pumpkin painting ideas (Art & design). Past-12-month rank: not in the top 20; past-month rank: #5; monthly change: +1,500%; yearly change: +20%. The same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  6. #6 wallpaper (Art & design). Past-12-month rank: #3; past-month rank: #6; monthly change: -9%; yearly change: +80%.
  7. #7 hairstyles (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #2; past-month rank: #7; monthly change: -20%; yearly change: +40%.
  8. #8 pumpkin carving ideas (Art & design). Past-12-month rank: not in the top 20; past-month rank: #8; monthly change: +3,000%; yearly change: -1%. Search interest rose sharply against the previous month (+3,000%) but was almost unchanged year over year (-1%). That suggests a seasonal pattern rather than clear evidence of growing year-over-year demand. Check the historical trend curve to identify when interest typically rises before planning next year's content. The same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  9. #9 outfit ideas (Fashion). Past-12-month rank: #4; past-month rank: #9; monthly change: -20%; yearly change: -8%.
  10. #10 pumpkin patch outfit (Fashion). Past-12-month rank: not in the top 20; past-month rank: #10; monthly change: +700%; yearly change: +70%. The displayed yearly change is large, but the window closes on October 31. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.
  12. #12 nail ideas (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: #5; past-month rank: #12; monthly change: -20%; yearly change: +90%.
  13. #13 dinner ideas (Food). Past-12-month rank: #7; past-month rank: #13; monthly change: -10%; yearly change: -2%.

  16. #16 october nails (Beauty). Past-12-month rank: not in the top 20; past-month rank: #16; monthly change: +200%; yearly change: +100%. A sharply rising seasonal term. Prioritize only if you already have relevant content or can publish useful Pins quickly; otherwise record the trend for next year's planning. The same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Fit: can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.

Source: Pinterest Trends, top yearly and top monthly searches, US, checked October 27, 2026. Topic groups are PinEasy's grouping. Change figures are Pinterest's displayed numbers. Tips are PinEasy's analysis.

The monthly list covers September 25–October 24, 2026, so its concentration of Halloween, pumpkin and fall-related searches reflects a late September–October snapshot rather than year-round search popularity.

What the US Top-Search Lists Reveal

Read on their own, these are just two lists. Read side by side, they show where Pinterest demand is steady, where it moves with the calendar and which big searches are a poor fit for most creators. The groupings below are our own reading of the two lists above, not categories Pinterest assigns.

Which topics dominate

We grouped each list's 20 keywords by topic:

Topic groupYearly top 20Monthly top 20
Nails86
Outfits and costumes34
Wallpaper and aesthetic23
Drawing and pose references22
Pumpkin crafts02
Hair11
Dinner and recipes11
Makeup01
Flowers10
Platforms and memes (youtube, reaction pictures)20

Beauty is the clear leader: nails, hair and makeup together take 9 of the 20 yearly spots and 8 of the 20 monthly spots. Outfits are the next biggest group. Food appears only once in each list, as the broad phrase "dinner ideas". In the past month, two pumpkin craft searches (painting and carving ideas) also reached the top 20.

The steady core: 12 searches in both lists

These 12 searches appear in both the yearly and monthly top-20 rankings:

KeywordYearly rankMonthly rank
nails14
hairstyles27
wallpaper36
outfit ideas49
nail ideas512
fall nails61
dinner ideas713
nail inspo814
drawing ideas915
aesthetic1419
fall outfits163
pose reference1718

Two of them move a long way between the lists. Fall outfits ranks 16th in the yearly list but 3rd in the monthly list, while fall nails ranks 6th yearly and 1st monthly. Both rank more prominently in the September–October monthly list than in the yearly list, consistent with stronger autumn demand.

What moves with the calendar

Eight searches appear in the monthly top 20 but not the yearly top 20. Seven are seasonal: halloween nails, pumpkin painting ideas, pumpkin carving ideas, pumpkin patch outfit, couples halloween costumes, october nails and fall wallpaper. The eighth is makeup. The eight yearly-only searches include other seasons' versions of the same ideas: christmas nails, spring nails, valentines nails and winter outfits.

Our read: the same topics come back with a different season attached, so a seasonal keyword is best planned before its season starts, not found while it is already at its peak. Our guide on when to post holiday Pins shows how to read that timing in Pinterest Trends.

Big searches that rarely fit a creator's content

Some top searches are large but hard to serve. youtube and reaction pictures are in the yearly top 20, but they point to a platform and to meme images rather than to a problem a blog post, product or guide can solve. aesthetic and wallpaper are huge and very broad. A high-volume keyword is useful only when your Pin and its destination match the searcher's intent.

How to Choose a Keyword From These Lists

Before you build a Pin around a keyword, run five checks in Pinterest Trends and Pinterest search:

  • Size: Is the term, or a close variant, in a top monthly or yearly list? Big terms are crowded, so they work best as topics.
  • Direction: Compare the monthly and yearly change. Positive monthly and yearly changes can indicate broader momentum, but check the trend curve before treating either as sustained demand.
  • Timing: Open the curve. If the term peaks at the same time every year, plan to publish before the rise starts.
  • Intent: Search the term on Pinterest and look at the top Pins. Are people after ideas, instructions or products?
  • Fit: Can your destination page fully answer it? If not, choose a narrower term you can answer.

Here is how those checks read for five terms from the US lists above:

KeywordWhat Pinterest Trends showedOur read
nails#1 yearly, #4 monthly; -20% monthly changeToo broad for one Pin. Use it as a topic and target a narrower nail search.
fall nails#1 monthly; +20% monthly, +30% yearlyIt leads the past-month list, but that alone doesn't establish when interest peaks. Check when the curve starts rising and plan next year's content ahead of it.
october nails#16 monthly; +200% monthly, +100% yearlyA sharply rising seasonal term. Prioritize only if you already have relevant content or can publish useful Pins quickly; otherwise record the trend for next year's planning.
couples halloween costumes#11 monthly; +100% monthly, +1,500% yearlyThe displayed yearly change is large, but the window closes on October 31.
pumpkin carving ideas#8 monthly; +3,000% monthly, -1% yearlySearch interest rose sharply against the previous month (+3,000%) but was almost unchanged year over year (-1%). That suggests a seasonal pattern rather than clear evidence of growing year-over-year demand. Check the historical trend curve to identify when interest typically rises before planning next year's content.

Three worked examples

These show how a creator could turn a big search into one Pin with one job. The narrower phrases are illustrative angles, not measured keywords. Check each one in Pinterest Trends and Pinterest search before you use it.

  1. From "dinner ideas" (appearing in both lists) to an evergreen guide. "Dinner ideas" is too broad, but it is big all year. A food blogger could target a narrower angle such as weeknight dinner ideas for two, send the Pin to a recipe roundup that actually answers it, and judge it after a few weeks on saves and outbound clicks rather than impressions alone, then compare two keyword angles fairly.
  2. From "fall nails" (leading the monthly list) to next year's plan. Fall nails already leads the monthly list, so a creator starting in late October may have missed much of the seasonal planning window. Record when the curve begins to climb, prepare a specific angle such as short fall nails for work, and publish ahead of that rise next year.
  3. From "christmas nails" (yearly list only) to a pre-season Pin. It ranks 10th in the past-12-month list but is absent from the past-month top 20. That is consistent with a seasonal pattern, but check the full trend curve, publish before searches start to rise, and send the click to a page built for that exact search.

The example headlines above are creative suggestions, not measured keywords or real product offers. For more formats, see our Pinterest Pin ideas. For the full research walkthrough, use How to Find Trending Keywords on Pinterest.

Once you have picked a keyword, put it where Pinterest reads it: the Pin title, the Pin description and a relevant board. Pinterest's image and video Pin specs allow descriptions up to 800 characters, while the bulk-upload CSV workflow has a separate 500-character description limit. Write alt text to describe the image, not as a keyword list. For placement examples, read How to Add Keywords to Pinterest.

Once you know which searches matter to your business, turn Pinterest search trends into a marketing strategy: our guide covers goals, boards, posting and measurement.

Rising Keyword Ideas, Separate From the Top Searches

The searches below are growing fast but are not among the biggest searches. Growth tells you momentum, not how many people search.

Pinterest's Hobbies Trend Report (published August 25, 2026) compares global text searches in May 2026 with May 2025. Six selected searches from the report, grouped by topic for easier comparison:

TopicSelected rising searchYear-over-year growth

Crafts and handmade projectsclay bag charms+1,499%
Templates and journalingbirthday magazine template+1,713%

Pinterest Predicts 2026 (official report) is an annual forecast of 21 trends based on global English-language searches, September 2024–August 2025 compared with the year before. It is a forecast, not a ranking of the biggest searches.

Use these only when a trend genuinely fits your audience, product and destination page.

A Note on Exact Search-Volume Numbers

Earlier versions of this guide included a third-party table of exact monthly search counts (a PinClicks list labeled September 2025). That source page is no longer available, and we could not verify its figures, so we have removed the numbers. If you see exact Pinterest search counts elsewhere, check who measured them, when and in which country.

Most Searched vs Trending: What's the Difference

This guide covers the most searched keywords: Pinterest's biggest searches over a month or a year. Trending keywords are a different list: searches that are growing fast right now, even if their total demand is still small. Pinterest Trends normalizes interest on a 0–100 scale, so a score of 100 marks a term's peak in the selected period, not 100 searches.

Pinterest's developer documentation defines the four list types behind Trends search:

ListPinterest's definitionUse it for
Top yearlyHigh search volume in the last yearChoosing durable topic pillars (this guide)
Top monthlyHigh search volume in the last monthSeeing what is big right now (this guide)
GrowingHigh upward growth in search volume over the last quarterSpotting new angles early

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most searched thing on Pinterest?

Nails. It is first in Pinterest Trends' US top yearly searches for October 25, 2025–October 24, 2026, and fourth in the top monthly list for September 25–October 24, 2026. Pinterest does not publish exact counts.

What are the most searched Pinterest keywords in 2026?

In Pinterest Trends' US top yearly list, checked October 27, 2026, the top ten are nails, hairstyles, wallpaper, outfit ideas, nail ideas, fall nails, dinner ideas, nail inspo, drawing ideas and christmas nails. Pinterest lists them as high-volume searches but shows no counts.

Does Pinterest publish a list of its most searched keywords?

Partly. Pinterest Trends shows top monthly and top yearly search lists for a selected region, with a volume bar instead of a number. It does not publish one global, all-time ranking with exact counts.

Should I use the biggest Pinterest keyword in every Pin?

No. Use only terms that accurately describe the Pin and its destination page. A smaller, specific search with clear intent is usually more useful than an enormous but loosely related keyword.

How often should I check Pinterest keywords?

Review evergreen keywords at least quarterly and check seasonal or event-driven keywords before every campaign. Fast-moving terms should be rechecked close to publication because their momentum can change within weeks.
